Toques & Beavers is a FREE online trivia game about Canada, from history to folklore to current events and everything in between.
The object of the game is to answer trivia questions correctly. By doing so you win Beaver Bucks, move through levels, win the game, and win offical Toques & Beavers prizes*.
To play Toques & Beavers players must log in. Players can register using their Facebook account or create a new account. The T&B account is solely for the purpose of keeping your score, statistics, denoting eligibility for winnings, and contact information for prizes. Click here to read our privacy policy.

Pick a pawn to move around the board. All player pawns begin on the START spot. To start a turn, roll the dice by clicking on it. The pawn moves the number rolled and lands on a spot.
If the pawn lands on a blank or basic spot, a Toques card is drawn. If the pawn lands on a specific card spot, the corresponding card ( Yipee, Oops) is drawn. Landing on a Beaver spot gives you a tip to use later on a difficult question.
Below is a breakdown of the card types and their purposes:
These are the basic trivia cards and are mostly true/false, yes/no and simple two-answer multiple-choice questions. They have a time limit of 20 seconds to be answered.
Scoring: Answer correctly, win small amount. Answer incorrectly, lose small amount.
(+/-2,500 for Frugal Freddie, +/-5,000 for Value Victoria, +/-10,000 for Lavish Lilly)
Landing on a Beaver spot gains you tip points to use later. Your Beaver Tips are accumulated and the total is shown to the right of the game board in the Beaver Tips box. When answering a question card, the top right corner has an icon to either Use a Beaver, which will subtract one from your tip count, or Buy a Hint if you have no tips to use.
Scoring: No score is added to your Total Bucks or Monthly Bucks , but one tip is added to your Beaver Tips counter.
Yipee cards are bonus question cards. Answering a Yipee card will award points to the player. Answering incorrectly will result in not winning and not losing any points. These questions have 3 or 4 multiple choice options to make it more difficult and a time limit of 20 seconds.
Scoring: Answer the question correctly, win double the amount of Beaver Bucks usually given for each level. Answer incorrectly and no points will be gained or lost.
(+5,000 for Frugal Freddie, +10,000 for Value Victoria, +20,000 for Lavish Lilly)
Oops cards are the negative cards. Answering an Oops card incorrectly can result in losing points. Answering correctly will save the player from losing any points, while maintaining their current score. These have similar questions (multiple choice with 3-4 options) and a time limit of 20 seconds.
Scoring: Answer the question correctly, no points will be gained or lost. Answer incorrectly, lose double the amount of Beaver Bucks usually given for each level.
(-5,000 for Frugal Freddie,-10,000 for Value Victoria, -20,000 for Lavish Lilly)
All cards load first with two category options (Tourism, Geography, etc). Players select the category of their choice, the question comes up and the player must answer within the alotted time.
Question cards also have buttons to “Use a Beaver Tip”. If a player selects “Use a Beaver Tip”, they use a beaver tip (pay a fee if they ran out of beaver tips) and receive a hint. This resets the timer to give another chance to consider the correct answer. Only one hint is available per question. (Buy a Hint fees are equal to half the amount of the card's dollar amount.)
The action after submitting an answer varies based on the type of card. A player will either win Beaver Bucks, lose Beaver Bucks, or have no change in Beaver Bucks. The card is then closed and discarded or, for Beaver cards, moved to the tips pile.
Scores are updated automatically. Now the player is ready to roll the dice again for another turn.
Players are welcome to submit questions for any category and level of trivia. The more questions in our database, the more exciting the game and the more a player will want to play without getting bored.

Tourism (Where can you see a rodeo in Canada?)Beaver Bucks are the scoring system for Toques & Beavers. Win or lose Beaver Bucks by answering questions correctly or incorrectly.
There are two measures of a players score in Beaver Bucks: Monthly Bucks and Total Bucks.
Total Beaver Bucks are accumulated throughout the entire game, regardless of time. Total Bucks dictate the level of play, the end of the game, and Grand Bonus Prize winners. Answering questions can add or subtract Beaver Bucks to the Total Bucks. This score only resets after a player wins the game or, if playing for the Grand Bonus Prize, any eligible player reaches $1,000,000.
Monthly Beaver Bucks are accumulated from the first to the last day of the month and reset every month. Monthly Bucks are basically a measure of correctly answered questions within one month. The player to earn the most Monthly Bucks in the least amount of time wins the monthly offical Toques & Beavers prize.
Answering questions correctly adds Beaver Bucks to the Monthly Bucks score, but unlike Total Bucks, incorrect answers do not take away Monthly Bucks, so this score reflects only the amount of questions correctly answered. The more difficult the question, the more bucks earned, the quicker a player can reach a high Monthly Bucks score.
Toques & Beavers has three levels of difficulty: Frugal Freddie, Value Victoria, and Lavish Lilly. These levels are based on the player's Total Beaver Bucks and determine the difficulty in trivia and points awarded or taken away.
Here is a breakdown of the levels:
Total Beaver Bucks: $0 - $250,000
Difficulty Level: Beginner
Scoring: Toques & Beavers = +/- 2500, Yipee & Oops = +/- 5000
Everyone begins as a Frugal Freddie.
Total Beaver Bucks: $250,000 - $750,000
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Scoring: Toques & Beavers = +/- 5000, Yipee & Oops = +/- 10000
This is the largest level.
Total Beaver Bucks: $750,000 - $1,000,000
Difficulty Level: Advanced
Scoring: Toques & Beavers = +/- 10000, Yipee & Oops = +/- 20000
Win the game when you reach $1,000,000 Beaver Bucks!
All players start as Frugal Freddies. To move through the levels, players must answer questions correctly and win Beaver Bucks. The Total Beaver Bucks score determines the level of play. If a player moves up a level, but then loses points by answering questions incorrectly, the player’s level continues to reflect the score.
Example: You earned $750,000 to get to Lavish Lilly, but the questions are too hard and you keep losing money. Once you are back under $750,000, you are taken down to Value Victoria’s level and have to answer the Intermediate questions again to win more bucks and move back up. This continues throughout the game.
